The Purple Coat

I bought this purple coat on a total whim. I was tricked by the bold, red SALE tag (disclaimer: I am frequently swayed by this tag). However, I’ve gotten more compliments on this coat from strangers than any other coat I own. It’s something about the rich tone or the rareness of the color purple that compels friendly passers-by to tell me they love it. Pale pink is everywhere this winter and I just haven’t been able to bring myself to wear anything pink yet. It’s super cute on everyone else, just not me. I feel like a Barbie in it – a really self-conscious Barbie. Someone one told me I was the smartest dumb blonde they’d ever met – I didn’t (and still don’t) know how to take that but it certainly supports the Barbie sentiment. So, I’ve avoided it at all costs. Thank god none of my friend’s have made me wear a pink bridesmaid dress.

Never one to describe myself as even remotely girly, this purple coat is still a step outside my comfort zone. However, that steady stream of compliments has encouraged me to explore my more feminine side recently so I bought a pink goat (or two) last week. The ultimate testament to how un-feminine I am? This is actually a men’s beanie that I grabbed while in line at Forever 21. It’ also $3. You can be the judge on if pink suits me or not soon enough!

PS. These booties are on major sale right now and they literally make me feel like I’m walking on clouds. BCBG must have discovered some Dr. Scholl’s-like technology while keeping it cute. #Impressed.

PPS. Sorry for any typos. I can barely see the screen as I had to get my eyes dilated today for my pending LASIK surgery. I hate proofreading anyway.
