I’m a workout addict. If I don’t workout in the morning, I feel off. Which means I spend a lot of time in workout clothing and have some strong opinions about what makes for the best gear. And I was blown away by this outfit from Athleta – especially the leggings!
Having an athletic build and a few curves too makes shopping for leggings one of the least pleasant experiences for me. Just like shopping for jeans. I usually identify one pant that I like, buy it in every color, and take extremely good care of them so I don’t have to buy new ones any time soon. I’m also a loyalist. I usually stick to one brand so for me to try a new brand takes a lot.
I’ll be honest and say that this was my first time trying Athleta. I’ve walked by the store here in downtown Chicago a few times and just wasn’t sure what to expect. However, after looking at the website, these leggings were too cute to pass up. I love that they have pockets. It comes in handy for carrying my keys when I run to Pure Barre in the morning or when I go to the gym. Since I end up wearing athletic clothes around a lot in public, it also means I can easily slip a credit card in them to run to the market or go grab a quick breakfast.
Let me tell you though. I am so impressed with these leggings I’ve worn them twice this week already. They are high waisted and hold me in so well. I always struggle with how my thighs look in leggings and I felt like these Slash Stealth 7/8 tights really did a great job of smoothing me out. I also love the color! I’m wearing a small for reference and am usually a small in other brands!
If you guys have watched my Instagram Stories this week, then you know this white hoodie made an appearance more than once too. It is sweat wicking but warm too so it’s perfect for a winter run. I can honestly say that I wore this outfit outside to walk along the Riverwalk in freezing temperatures (you can see the snow on the ground!) and was totally fine. If you’re a runner and live in a cold climate, this would make for a great top to take runs in!

Now let’s get to this parka! The puffer that I wore last year to Pure Barre has really been worn in and I was dreading finding a replacement. Wearing a puffer to a workout class just feels weird. So when I found this Cascades Parka, I was so excited to try it. I had no idea just how warm it would be. That makes it a great piece for going to and from workout classes and even exploring outdoors (like a camping trip). I also love that it’s not obviously a workout jacket so you could wear it with denim or your regular clothing too (i.e. not workout pants). I’m wearing my regular size in this one too! I wore this to Pure Barre on Tuesday and this morning!
Overall, I’m so impressed with these Athleta pieces! True to form, I’ve already gone back on the Athleta website and scoped out more pants that are just like these. I need every color! Matt and I are going on vacation next week and I’m definitely bringing these along. I always travel in workout leggings so I’m comfortable yet stylish too!
