White Fuzzy Coat | Lace Midi Dress | Pink Velvet Sandals | Pink Tote Bag | White Sunglasses | Rose Gold Statement Earrings | Rose Gold Necklace | Lipstick in ‘Scarlet’
I was never the girl to wear head to toe red and pink for Valentine’s Day. I have nothing against the colors, sometimes I just like to be a little more unpredictable. A little subtle maybe. It’s the same reason why green on St. Patrick’s day isn’t my thing. I think it’s so cute when people do it. I just don’t think I’m the “cute” kind of gal!
Honestly, Matt and I rarely do something for Valentine’s Day anyway. We haven’t had a VDay in Chicago yet but it was a nightmare in Los Angeles. Traffic made it impossible to get anywhere under an hour and pre fixe menus aren’t usually vegetarian (or budget) friendly. We typically went to one of our favorite restaurants a week before/after while spending the actual day cooking at home and watching Netflix. So when Matt put a date on the calendar for next Tuesday, you better believe I was surprised! He definitely gets points for always being thoughtful.
After the surprise wore off, my next thought was what to wear. This outfit is more my style for a date night: a lace midi with a flowy skirt. The details on the skirt are so whimsically beautiful that it gets me excited for spring. It also is sure to flatter even after I eat all the Mexican food (we are going to Mercadito) because it fits through the waist and flares out. Double points! I can’t wait for warmer temperatures so I can break out more dresses. I’d forgotten how much I’ve missed them!
When I mentioned being subtle earlier, this is what I meant. A pretty blush tote bag and pink velvet heels are timeless accessories. I am just so obsessed with the structure of this Strathberry bag. And you know velvet is having a moment for the shoes. If the shoes are sold out in your size, try the blue color or these pretty wrap around sandals! This is just enough to give a nod to the holiday but you can wear them over and over through spring and summer.
If you’re more of a bold girl when it comes to this “day of love”, I shared 5 Valentine’s Day date night ideas here. Tons of bold reds and heart prints seen there. I also posted the cutest ruffled one shoulder top that comes in red and black last week. It is great for VDay but also can be worn for so many occasions long after. It also enhances your (non-existent) assets as Matt informed me during that shoot. I paired it with skinny jeans to make a more casual, easy to wear look. If that’s not enough, there’s a $1,000 giveaway to Nordstrom too!
What are you going to wear this year? Any ideas yet or are you over it already?

This dress is STUNNING! I love the velvet heels with it – ahh I need this entire look! I have no idea what my Valentine’s plan are this year ( we typically just stay in and get sushi take out and watch Suits in bed) so that will mostly likely happen again this year!

That’s a really gorgeous outfit! It’s really unique and I love it. I’m kinda tired of seeing every blogger do red or pink outfits for valentine’s day. You made a good choice picking not to go down that route.
