I cannot believe January is over! 2017 is flying by too fast already. I didn’t even realize it was time for another Instagram round. That is how fast this month has gone by! It just might have something to do with the fact that Matt finally moved to Chicago. Totally a guess (sarcasm, it definitely is). If you missed the recap on what we learned from being long distance, you can read about it here!
I keep being told that winter in Chicago lasts forever. I get it, guys. With that in mind, I’m actually thrilled January is over! That means there is one less month between me and a pair of sandals. It’s been tough getting used the cold all the time. I’m always cold but in Chicago, I legitimately have a reason to be! I gives me the perfect excuse to break out over the knee boots and all the scarves. With that, here are some of the outfits that y’all loved best from Instagram.
Of course, y’all loved this top! It’s one of my all time favorites. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, an off the shoulder ruffled top is a great thing to have in your closet. If this one isn’t for you, I’ve linked to a few different (and affordable) options below like this burgundy velvet one. Whatever your plans are, this is the perfect option. It’s not overboard and can be worn all spring/summer long with various bottoms. It goes great with a pair of skinny jeans (heck, rock it with some flares!) but also looks so cute tucked into mini skirts like this white denim one!
Well, this just goes to show that spring is a distant vision for those of us in the midwest and on the east coast. Give me all the fun sweaters and the teddy bear coats! If you missed the full post, you can read about it here. It’s all about how double the fringe means double the fun. The only positive thing about living in a cold climate is that we get to enjoy all the sales happening on the cold weather gear right about now! Pretty sure everything in this outfit is marked down including this Rebecca Minkoff fringe crossbody which is 50% off!
Va va voom. Most of us have romance on the mind right now! And when you don’t have anything to work in the front, you gotta work the back, right? I’m all about low back dresses for that reason. I’m actually about anything with an interesting detail (especially intricate back details). You can get this exact dress here and I linked to my favorite dresses below!
Yeah, I’m with y’all. This off the shoulder sweater is a dream! Plus, it’s on sale. A blush pink knit is exactly how I plan to transition into spring. Cozy knits to beat that cold but the color says goodbye winter! That transition just might be a hell of a lot longer than I like unfortunately. PS. these Stuart Weitzman dupes are on sale and under $100! Make sure to read the details on sizing here before purchasing!
It’s almost time to show a little skin again! What better way than a fun fringe skirt? This burgundy color is to die for! I purchased it here but I saw it on sale here. Pairing over the knee boots with a mini is a safer way to brave the cold. Note that I said safer, not safe. That laughing til you cry emoji would be perfect here. But seriously, I feel like it really does elevate your look and if you’re perpetually cold like me, it’s a great compromise.
Maybe the biggest news of the month was that these peep toe booties are back in stock (and on sale for under $100)!! They first made their appearance during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale last year. I’m so glad they’re back in stock though because they are the perfect shoe to strut right into spring.
Okay, I’m cheating a little bit. This isn’t an outfit but this was my highest viewed post in December and also in January. Y’all are coming in loud and clear. I’m currently planning a ton more home posts for you guys in 2017! Given that I don’t live in a mansion, I only have so many areas to redo. If you have any requests, be sure to leave them in the comments below! I love hear y’alls feedback! You can see the full bedroom here but I linked to some of the key items below!
This was the dress (also seen here) that Matt told me I looked like Kim Kardashian in. Thanks? I think? It’s under $100 and an easy all around piece to wear. I can’t promise you that you’ll put it on and look like Kim K. (I have my wide hips to thank for that), but you can sure feel a little sexier! It’s cotton so it’s comfy too. It’s not a bodycon so there’s room to breathe and the lace up detail at the neck is super on trend right now.
I agree with you guys. Grey is my favorite color too! This eyelash cardigan is now 40% off (yay!) and is so comfortable. It’s as easy to wear out on the weekend as it is to snuggle on the couch. This pom on my purse has fast become one of my favorite accessories. You can attach it to almost any bag for a little fun.
I’m sensing a theme: everything cozy! This cable knit cardigan was one of my favorite purchases in December. I also can’t get enough of this tassel scarf. It’s so easy to wear like this or wrap it around you like a shawl. It comes in a few different colors and I’ve been eyeing the blush lately! Now that I’m in Chicago, I have an excuse to build a ridiculous scarf collection, right? One that my husband has no right to question? I’m thinking yes.
I’m pretty sure this outfit made December’s Instagram round up too. With a few rainy days (and minimal snow) in January, I had to break out these Hunter Boots a few times. I heard that last month was the second cloudiest January ever. Thank god grey is my favorite color. Now if only we could get more than a snow flurry so I could get a taste of what a Chicago winter is all about! PS. this fringe scarf is the one that I wear on repeat! I’ve been called out by both my friends and coworkers for it! I have it in 3 colors though so I can switch it up a little. It will also make for a great wrap during wedding season when you don’t want to bring a coat!
Ending this round up strong! This pink chenille cardi was one of the funnest things to style last month. It’s currently still available in black but I’ve linked to a few other feminine pink sweaters to satisfy your inner girly girl. The other piece of this outfit that you can’t overlook is this white thermal – it has thumb holes, guys. Thumb holes!! Since I already confessed my love of them in the original post, I won’t rehash it here. But basically, you need this. For now and for ever. It comes in about 10 colors too!
