Peony Printed Dress | Over the Knee Boots | Leather Jacket | Trench Coat | Tote Bag | Pink Tassel Earrings | Tortoise Sunglasses | Lipstick in ‘Bawse’
Happy Monday! It’s a very happy Monday over here because I’m coming off a weekend in the sun! Matt and I spent the last few days in Tampa for spring training. Some people (and by that I mean wives) get a spring break, others get a lot of baseball haha. I had forgotten how much I missed the sun though! I’ve barely seen it since moving to Chicago and didn’t think it bothered me much until our first day at the beach. Turns out, my skin decided it didn’t miss it much – I have the worst sunburn!
Today’s photos are from another one of our weekend trips. I’m sure you can guess where: The Biltmore. If you missed my Asheville travel guide and last week’s post on the botanical gardens, this is one of my favorite places we’ve been. Even though it was still winter, the grounds were gorgeous. The stormy skies made for a great backdrop as we explored the estate. Seriously, so dreamy!
While it’s still chilly, I’ve been wearing these boots with all the fun spring dresses I want to wear. It’s a great compromise because they cover so much of your leg! You don’t have to be stuck wearing sweaters and can still look cute. I haven’t found a dress yet that these boots don’t go with!
I know they’re a splurge item (see this post for some good dupes if you’re still not sold), but they have lasted me for 2 years. I can’t say that about any of my other boots. #Justsaying. I love affordable items but I do like investment pieces too – they just make so much sense. Instead of buying the same item every season and racking up the costs that way, you can just get one really good fitting pair.
This high neck peony printed dress was the perfect combination to wear with the boots. Plus, who else gets super excited for peony season? Which lasts all of 3 weeks… My arms were covered and so were my legs so that meant I wasn’t totally freezing. I’m always cold so I definitely brought two lightweight jackets with me (here and here)! You can see how I layered them in a couple of the photos and I like how it turned out. Seems like I’ve been wearing the white moto a lot lately and I know it will be the perfect piece to layer come spring.
