Friday Five: 5 of the Cutest Sunglasses for Spring and Summer

In case it wasn’t totally obvious, sunglasses are a huge part of Visions of Vogue. I’m guessing that comes as no surprise though. It’s rare you’ll see a photo of me here without them. In fact, I know it’s not surprising because over the years, I’ve had some really interesting comments about me and sunglasses. Such as:

• “Why do you always wear sunglasses?”
• “Are you an eye doctor?”
• “You should write a blog only about sunglasses.”

Let me tackle those questions/statements one by one. I wear sunglasses because they’re fun accessories. You can easily swap them out in seconds unlike doing your hair, deciding you look like a bald eagle, and then having to redo it. My eyes are also sensitive to light. Really sensitive. I think that’s pretty common for people with blue eyes. Add on having LASIK and trust me, I’m doing you a favor. You don’t want to see me squinting like I’m trying to read the fine print, face all distorted. Lastly, it makes shooting photos way easier. I don’t have to worry about if my eyes are closed or even worse, half closed. Matt and I don’t have a lot of time to shoot so efficiency is everything!

Which brings me to the next question. No, I’m not an eye doctor. I dread annual eye exams. I always feel like I’m failing a test when they ask me to read those tiny letters. I work in corporate finance Monday through Friday (more about me here). Every week of the year. Matt works in supply chain and moonlights as my Instagram Husband as he shared on Wednesday.

This last one came from an older man who appears to be a running aficionado based on his Instagram profile. While I appreciate the compliment (I think?), I’ll keep to variety. That said, I’m writing this post only about sunglasses. Hopefully, he’s happy. Here are my 5 absolute favorite sunnies of all time in action!

1. Pink Super Lunars. These are giving me all the spring vibes as Chicago gives me all the winter ones. If you see them in stock, get them immediately. I love how feminine they are with the pink tint plus they have a flattering shape. It’s no secret I love Karen Walker. Everyone has a brand or two they know they never have to worry about fitting right. Whether it’s accessories or clothing. Karen Walker is mine. And for all the people I see wearing this brand or friends who have asked to try mine on, it’s nearly universal.
2. Number Ones. These are above! Back to back Karen Walker? Yes. I LOVED the shape of these when I saw them online. I didn’t love them on my face until about month 3. It didn’t look bad, it was just really different. Since the shape is so unique, ask a friend how they look on. I rarely say this but don’t trust your gut on this one. Push through! It’s like seeing yourself in red lipstick for the first time. You look hot, don’t worry (I explained all of this when I talked about my 5 favorite red lipsticks). They also come in this fun pink!

3. Black mirrores sunnies. If I could pick a second favorite brand it would be Quay. The price point is unbeatable. With nothing over $60, it is easy to stay on trend in a budget friendly way. I think 90% of my sunglasses are either Karen Walker or Quay. If you don’t like the black frames, they come in 6 different colors including some fun ombré ones!

4. White Tom Ford’s. These are a few years old but white sunglasses always make an outfit pop. They’re so “summer”. Who doesn’t love summer? I’ve linked to a few of my top picks (all price points) below if you want to freshen up your look!

5. Gold Cat Eye Sunnies ($50). Everyone needs that really funky pair of sunglasses right? I call these a conversation starter. Fun shapes like flower rims or Harry Potter circle frames are the reasons why people accessorize. It makes getting dressed fun! If I’m going for a more unique shape, I go with a low budget option like these gold cat eyes. I’ve gotten so many compliments on them so I know people are taking note!
