With spring 6 weeks away, I’ve been looking for those perfect transitional pieces to refresh my wardrobe. Personally, I would have preferred if that little groundhog had seen his shadow. Then again, this gives me an excuse to plan a few weekend trips to warmer destinations that Matt can’t refute.
So, as I draft this post on my walk to Pure Barre, I’m thinking about pieces I can invest in that will suffice for both the end of winter and spring. I should also start thinking about planning ahead when it comes to blog posts. Lately, it’s been tough. This week, we went to a networking event and then a movie on back to back nights. That’s big for us. Matt dragged me to what was probably the worst movie I can recall last night. It was so bad, it was comical. Of course, as we walked out of the theater he tells me he loved it. I will never understand him!
Just like I don’t seem to share his taste in entertainment, Matt doesn’t share my affinity for building a massive coat collection. He owns 3. THREE. I, however, own a number that I’m embarrassed to admit. I blame the fear of winter everyone tried to instill in me before moving! This faux fur collar coat is my latest add. It’s a great blend between a wool coat and a blazer. It’s just the right amount of structure and that creamy caramel color. It’s still available in black but I found an equally beautiful one here. This one is a little more bohemian and of course, my inner Free People girl drools over that!
The sweater I’m wearing today is just one of many I’ve added to my closet post the move to Chicago. I seem to have a common approach to sweaters and coats! The cuffed sleeves are so cute and cozy! It comes in 5 other colors including a really pretty grey which would also be perfect for spring. In a few months, I want to try layering this one over my favorite mini skirts. Maybe with one of those little lace camis everyone is wearing. I haven’t gotten one yet because there’s no way I’d be able to wear that outside… without 3 layers on top haha!
A random side note, we happened to shoot these photos outside of the restaurant RPM Italian in River North. If you like Italian food and need a great date night spot in Chicago, I’d recommend it! It’s surprisingly affordable and the portions are perfect (i.e. not so huge you eat too much which can lead to some unromantic things).
Also remember that there is a $1,000 giveaway still going on to Nordstrom (details here)! If you need something to wear for that date night you’re planning or are looking for those spring transitional pieces like this coat, check it out! Either way, add a few of these Mejuri rings which are my new favorite pieces to stack and you’ll be set!
