Working in the video game industry means I see a LOT of t-shirts on a daily basis. If you walked into my office, you’d think we’d been ordered to wear a Call of Duty tee (and perhaps the occasional plaid button down over it). And let me tell you, it’s a style that’s easy to adopt. It shows company pride, is extremely comfortable, and gives you extra room to grow when you eat lunch at the food trucks a few too many times. I committed this fashion crime regularly when I first started, until my work bestie informed me I’d been “mailing it in”. She was right.
That was the moment I decided that I’d up my fashion game and start Fancy Fridays. I had a ton of business casual left over from my consulting career so why not put it to good use one day a week? As you can imagine, the guys in the office weren’t too keen on this idea. In fact, I distinctly remember one telling me he’d rather wear sweatpants on Fridays instead of having to participate. Since sweatpants are about as equally unflattering as t-shirts on my figure, I stuck with Fancy Fridays. Gives me something to plan all week (serial planner over here) and allows me to start the weekend with a bang!
