I’ve been obsessed with this Free People summer maxi dress since I first got it last year. Initially, I wore it for our engagement photos which turned our beautifully for those we shot off the coast of Malibu. Before I even had a vision for our wedding, I knew I wanted it to embody a chic bohemian vibe and this dress was that in a nutshell. I also took it with us to Cinque Terre last year and it was the perfect outfit for the sleepy beach town of Monterosso. After a day in the sun, light material and flowing fabric is all that you want to wear, right? It just fits flawlessly into any setting and it’s incredibly comfortable so it’s begging to be worn over and over.
As I was packing for our minimoon, I thought it was fitting to wear this during the trip – mostly to see if Matt even recognized it. He’ll tell you that I love doing little things like this to put him (and his sentimental side) to the test ALL the time. He’s right. I’d be lying if I said he passes with flying colors every time but he definitely surprises me. He’s such a man’s man but it’s adorable when he gets sweet. Plus, he does the exact same thing to me and it’s always in good fun!
With the word “fall” being thrown around a lot over the last week, there’s nothing that I want more than an endless summer. Granted, we have a few months left of great weather here in LA, I could do with year round temps in the 80s. And plenty more opportunities to rock the killer back on this maxi dress.
PS. If you look really closely, you can see all the bug bites all over my back/arms. Of course I came out of our trip to Belize looking like I’d gotten the chicken pox while Matt had like one bite. Bugs love me – almost as much as Matt does :)

I’ve LOVED this dress for a while, but I haven’t gotten it do to not being able to determine what bra to wear. Did you have cups sewn in or how did you make it work? Such odd questions for a Monday morning! Ha!

Very important question! I found that I didn’t need anything! The tie in the back connects through the front so it acts as support. That plus the tie at the top make it like a halter bikini top. The material on the top is the thickest so I haven’t noticed it is see through but the skirt definitely is (as you can see!). Hope that helps!
