Pink Off the Shoulder Top (also comes in white!) | White Skinny Jeans | Blush Rockstud Heels | Grey Bag | Pink Tassel Earrings | Grey Sunglasses | Lipstick in ‘Swag’
If I had to define my style in a few words, I couldn’t. So many people told me “define your brand” or “pick a category” when I first started blogging. After a few years of struggling to figure out what that is, I’m throwing that advice in the trash respectfully. It bothered me for so long (and I kept hearing those words of advice echo in my head) but I finally realized it just wasn’t possible. I’ll never be the girl who only wears pink dresses although my recent posts might lead you to believe otherwise haha. I’ll also never be the girl who only wears black. Call me inconsistent, call me unpredictable, but I don’t necessarily think either of those are a bad thing when it comes to clothing. Why limit yourself?
Before I start, I know I have a tendency when it comes to style. I can see my Instagram feed. I’m not blind. Generally speaking, I like affordable and flattering pieces. Anything that hides these wide set hips of mine, right? Don’t believe me? I’ve mastered the ability to compliment my big bone structure just as much as Matt has mastered the ability to take seriously unflattering photos of me. The last 3 years of blogging had been quite the reality check (crying-laughing emoji). Seriously though boo, tell me when I look pregnant in a pose. We’re on a budget so affordable pieces make sense for us just like they do for most of the world. I also like to look good – hence, the flattering cute and fits. And I think that’s a great “brand”!
I like to dress for an event. Since every event in your life is different, your outfits should follow suit. When it comes to color, I love monochromatic looks but come spring, I’m bursting at the seams to break out the colors. While black is incredibly slimming (and for that, I will forever be indebted to the color), I feel weird dressing for a funeral while there are so many pretty flowers blooming! And while I might spend my weekends in ruffled dresses, I’m hard pressed to find a way to wear those to the office. A floral dress doesn’t exactly say “girl boss”.
I also like to dress for my mood. Not that I have that many of them (queue the chuckle from my husband, right?) but if I’m feeling girly, I’ll wear a blush off the shoulder top like this one today! Paired with some white skinny jeans, this look gives me all the soft, romantic feels. PS. Goodnight Macaroon has some pretty gorgeous new spring arrivals! With the city of Chicago starting to come alive, that’s been my mood pretty consistently lately. More than ever, I’ve wanted to break out the most spring-iest spring trends. Let’s see if Mother Nature actually lets us do that here in the Midwest without hitting us with another snowstorm!
Now trust me, I don’t always feel like dressing up. I spent last Saturday in my USC sweatpants and this white thermal top. It was laundry afternoon (we ran a few errands in the morning in this pretty flower printed dress). It was the first Saturday Matt and I had been home in a month and we were grateful to relax. My sense of smell was also grateful as our laundry had created quite the scent. Not to call him out but Matt had been working out a lot more… :)
All this to say, you can’t show up to life wearing the same thing every day. Don’t worry about trying to define your sense of style. I believe in wearing what you want when you want. If you want to take it to the extreme and wear an epically gothic outfit one day and the frilliest blush top the next, go you.

I totally agree about not wanting to define your style! I don’t think you have to! You just do what makes you happy! xo, Nataly

My style can change daily so I totally relate! The best thing about fashion is it allows us to show all different points of our personality, not just one!

I totally agree Jenna!!
I even talked about this once on my blog. My theory is that our personality isn’t one sided so why should our clothing choices be only in one style??
Besides, it’s so fun to try out new and different items of clothing—it’d be so boring if we were limited to “a style”!
I’m so glad to hear you say this!!
Happy Wednesday!

So glad you said this. I always say the same thing. Girly, preppy, trendy, casual, dressy, boho, fun, bright, easy. Hahaha, I sound like an oxymoron. Love this pretty look and how you just wear what you feel like that day!
