A Dress A Day: Travel Dress (Day 23)

Who here has a travel uniform? You know, those sweat pants that you wear so much your significant other would think something was wrong if you showed up to O’Hare in something else. Or maybe it’s a go to scarf. My choice? You guessed it, a maxi dress.

Sure, sweatpants can be cute but after a 4 hour flight, they are sagging in all the wrong places. After 10 hours, you look like you just went through a bad breakup. No one wants to give the place they are visiting that first impression. So that’s why I stick with maxi dresses! You get all of the comfort and don’t have to sacrifice your style. Of course, I always bring along a scarf too to keep me warm or use as a pillow.

This olive maxi dress is a perfect travel piece for summer. It’s basically like you’re wearing a (light) blanket so you can snuggle up and get comfy even if you’re in a middle seat. It also has pockets. YAS. That is my reaction (and every other female’s reaction) when something has pockets. They will never get old. In a maxi dress, you’ll walk down that jetway like it’s your runway. That awkward walk you do after your muscles have been cramped in the same position for a few hours will look like your signature model walk. Well, maybe I shouldn’t go so far as to make those promises but you get what I mean. Right? You can also wear it later in the trip or as a beach cover up. Just look how gorgeous it is blowing in the wind!

This dress also comes in multiple colors should olive not be your cup of tea. I love the pink and olive combination I created here. I almost always travel with a giant tote too. I took this pink leather one to Tulum with us a few weeks ago! You just never know how much you’re going to need to carry! Like when Matt sticks all his stuff in my bag turning me into his personal mule!

Keeping with the blush pink, I’m bringing these sandals to the blog for the first time! I think I might have to shoot in flats more often though. Way more comfortable. I was so excited to share them on Instagram that even Matt called me out for being uncharacteristically excited. I’ll be bringing them on my next trip (which happens to be tomorrow so they’re already sitting in my suitcase). Stay tuned and follow along in Insta to see where I’m headed!

  12. This is definitely my kind of travel outfit. I love maxi dresses! Plus, if you got up super early for a flight and forgot to shave your legs, there’s no need to be concerned haha! The olive looks gorgeous on you!
