Yellow Floral Maxi Dress | Flat Sandals in Paprika | White Crossbody Bag | Sunglasses | Gold Necklace | Bracelet Stack (been wearing this, this, and this together all the time lately!) | Lipstick in ‘Babe Alert’
Hello yellow! When is the last time you went on a picnic in a park? Or even at the beach? It’s not often that Matt and I make time for picnics. And as I talked about on Saturday, there aren’t a whole love of patches of grass living in a big city. Sure, LA was a big city but there were definitely more parks in our neighborhood. I remember Matt and I doing a date night in one of our local spots once during the summer. It was so fun to switch things up a bit. Saying pass to our usual dinner spots and getting outside was refreshing!
Now that we’re living in a new city, our motto has been more like “try everything once”. I think we feel guilty going to a restaurant or a location twice at this point. I do make exceptions for Sweetgreen though. It’s just so good. We are probably a little overwhelmed! If you looked at either of our Google Maps, you would see so many starred places in the city of Chicago. You’d think we were planning a month long vacation here!
While the weather is still a little too unpredictable to enjoy a picnic just yet, it’s definitely on my list of things to do this summer. There are a couple of parks around us but the most notable one is Millenium Park (where “The Bean” is). This yellow maxi dress would be the perfect piece to wear there! It’s only $65 and really lightweight. If you live in a place that gets humid this summer, this dress is for you!
I know that wearing a dress might not always come to mind first for a picnic but I’m most comfortable in dresses. You can still sit cross legged but it feels like you’re just under a blanket. A blanket that’s your dress, that is. Jeans feel too tight when you’re sitting cross-legged plus you have to keep pulling them up. Shorts, well, no one needs to see my legs that close in order to notice that I haven’t shaved in a week or two. I’ll fully admit that Friday is shave day for me. If Matt doesn’t have to shave his face every day, I shouldn’t have to either! Although Matt did call me out this weekend while we were shooting by saying “Oh I see we didn’t shave on Friday”. It was raining on Friday (and it rained all day Saturday), give me a break.
And since picnics are usually associated with grass, I felt like these flat sandals would be so easy to kick off and slip on again. They are under $100 and come in 3 colors! Initially, I was curious as to how many things I could pair this paprika color with but I’ve found a lot of things so far. Since the red-orange is a little browner, it’s a little more like a neutral. If you’re not into the bolder color, try the beige though. It’s a really easy shade to pair with almost everything! I linked to all 3 colors below so you could color compare!
Now let’s hope that our weather forecast stops having rain! And this wraps up week 1 of my A Dress A Day series! You can see all 7 dresses that I’ve posted here.
