If you’re like me, some of your weekends are going to be dedicated to football. There’s no way around it. I’ve accepted that being married to a sports fanatic. Instead of fighting it, I make the best of it. My solution? Make it a social event! This past Sunday, Matt and I rounded up our friends to watch the Raiders take on the Titans at Tommy Bahama Island Grille in Newport Beach. It was such a fun experience and a welcomed change of pace from the usual home viewing! The location is absolutely stunning! And in honor of my promise to be more real with y’all, I’m sharing some very different types of photos today! Hope you enjoy it!
I’ve been to a fair share of dingy sports bars in my life. It’s not something I dream about come football season. Dread might be a strong word but I don’t eagerly await a bouncer inspecting my ID. Tommy Bahama Island Grille is the opposite of that. It’s an upscale restaurant with just the right amount of football. There was a live guitarist on Sunday softly playing tropical island tunes which really set the laid back mood. I was about ready to book a vacation midway through our meal. You can’t help but feel relaxed with that! And now for the good stuff – fashion, food, and drinks!
Tommy Bahama teamed up with the NFL to create high quality sportswear for football season! A variety of styles are available for each NFL team. There are a bunch of comfy knits for when the weather gets cooler or performance fabrics in case you’re experiencing a heat wave like we are in Southern California! Each store typically carries the local teams but everything is available online! Everyone that was wearing the collection this weekend looked so good. If you visit a Tommy Bahama restaurant wearing any item from their NFL collection, you get a free amuse-bouche too!
We kicked off our day of fandom with some chips and dip as well as the yummiest french toast ever! I probably looked at the TV twice the entire day because I was too busy catching up with everyone! We haven’t been in Los Angeles on a weekend since August and it felt great just to do something normal. This was our second to last weekend in LA so we’ve been trying to savor these moments with our friends! After the morning games, we were all totally stuffed. No one walked away hungry, that’s for sure!
Look at this gorgeous bar! Tommy Bahama created NFL themed drinks for game days this fall! I’m usually a vodka-water girl but these drinks were delicious. Not too sweet and sugary. We had so much fun trying the combinations that represented our local teams here in SoCal. Fans in New York can choose from the Jet Fuel or Jint’s Juice, while in Houston it’s the Texan Blitz, in Florida the Miami Mint Flipper and in Arizona the Seeing Red. Yum! What a fun way to celebrate your home team!
Caught in the act: Matt dishing out some skepticism about someone’s fantasy football pick!
How adorable is this crewneck sweatshirt by Tommy Bahama? I’ve been a fan of the San Diego Chargers since I was a little girl. My dad used to take me to football games all the time! Believe it or not, I was a total tomboy back in the day! My sister loved this sweatshirt so much she got the Los Angeles Rams version of it!
The Ahi Tuna Tacos were a group favorite!
My sister and her fiance enjoying a few beverages during the game! I’m going to miss them so much when we move to Chicago! Luckily, I’ll be back a lot over the next few months because they are getting married in February and I’m the Maid of Honor!
This is important!! If you visit a Tommy Bahama restaurant wearing something from their NFL collection, you get a free amuse-bouche! The menu changes daily so there’s a reason to keep going back. On Sunday, they were serving Filet Mignon and from what I heard, it was delicious (I’m vegetarian)! What a fun little treat for supporting your team. That’s a win-win!
Since Matt isn’t loyal to any football team (he’s only loyal to the White Sox), he chose to wear the Buffalo Bills half zip on Sunday. If you asked me to explain, I couldn’t.I just asked him why as I was writing this and he said “because their tailgates are really rowdy”. At this point in our marriage, I just go with it! It looks so good on him though. I love a man in a half zip for some reason!
Of course, the favorite part of my day was the Malted Chocolate Pie! It was seriously so delicious. Words can’t even explain. Even Matt who usually picks chips over dessert couldn’t get enough of it!
All in all, we had a great Sunday! Thank you so much to Tommy Bahama Island Grille for showing us an amazing time!
