It’s no secret that I was traumatized by a bad dye job. I’ve spent the last year trying to build up stronger, healthier hair using these 5 products. It’s tough. It doesn’t happen overnight. In fact, it’s probably going to take a few more years to get my hair back to what it was. Add a really bad salon experience with moving to a new city and you might be able to guess my thoughts on starting the search for a new colorist right now. My motivation is slim to none. That’s why I tried TRUHAIR by Chelsea Scott. 

I’ll be honest. I’m not too happy with where my roots are right now. It’s been 4.5 months since I got a touch up. It seems a little far fetched to jet set back to LA for a weekend to see my girl Andrea who helped me start getting my hair back on track. I wish I could, trust me. So what have I done? As much I hate to admit this, nothing. I’ve just let my roots grow out. And I’m not starting to do any research on new colorists anytime soon. I never want to relive that moment last year when I knew it was over for my hair!

When I heard about TRUHAIR by Chelsea Scott Color & Lift as a way to cover up your roots, I was intrigued. No need to risk a color disaster? Nothing permanent? Easy to apply? Travel sized? They were speaking my language. I gave it a try (as you can see above) and was pretty surprised at the results. It definitely lightened my roots. But there’s more. It also was like a dry shampoo, absorbing the oils! I’m on day 4 here in this photo! Oh, and there’s more. It is also a volumizing powder. I usually have to pay over $200 for color, THEN buy a dry shampoo and volumizer on top of it!! To have all three abilities in one? Best day ever.

There’s also a to-go size so you can bring it when you travel! If you’re a little heavy handed (like me), it’s really good for getting in smaller areas without overdoing it or missing the spot you were trying to get. There are also 8 shades available (I used the blonde) which is the most I’ve seen from a temporary root touch up brand. Love the choices. Think of this product as makeup for your hair. You want your hair to look it’s best even in between professional services, right?

Now, I will say that in terms of color, this product probably isn’t the long term solution for me. It isn’t meant to be!   13. This stuff sounds too good to be true! Maintaining red hair can be a challenge, and my roots tend to begin showing a lot quicker than I’d like. It’d be amazing to have a quick fix when I’m in between colorings!
