We are back in Chicago this morning after a weekend in Charleston!I completely fell in love with all the southern architecture in Charleston. More to come on that later this week. This quick weekend trip was just what we needed to relax and recharge for a couple busy weeks ahead. Summertime in Chicago is quite different than winter! There is just so much stuff going on!

Even though I loved our trip to the south, it’s reminded me to keep an eye out for beautiful places in the city. While there is a lot of brown brick and very industrial looking backdrops, especially where we live in downtown, you do find a cute little corner every now and then like this one. We’re always on foot since we sold our cars when we left LA. That sometimes helps us stop and enjoy the view. We’d walked by this flower wall (of sorts) on our way to the market a few times before finally stopping to take a few pictures.

I wore a similar pink ruffled dress earlier in the year and loved it so much I bought the summer version. I am loving the off the shoulder (OTS) look especially when it doesn’t restrict the way your arms move. Most OTS pieces do this but this dress does not! I also love the high low hem to keep you cool during summer. As I start to learn what humidity means (we didn’t have that in LA), I think more and more about that kind of thing! Southern California girls have it so easy!

Because I seem to be gravitating toward all things pink, I’ve rounded up a few more of my favorite pink ruffled pieces. If you haven’t tried something by Privacy Please, do yourself a favor and do it – especially if you have curves! Every piece I’ve tried is super flattering. I’ve worn this brand here and here (and a few more times too)!

If you’re still looking for those perfect summer sandals, take a look at these fringe wedges too. They’re especially great for weddings. I always struggle with finding cute wedding shoes especially for outdoor weddings where grass comes into play. I’d rather not have my stiletto heel sink an inch into the ground as I’m trying to refill my glass of rose, thanks! I also really love the paprika color. If you’re looking for an everyday wedge, try those. I took these with me to Charleston and they are so incredibly comfortable. I’ve had them since last year and they are an amazing deal for the price!
