With a few minutes to spare before meeting a friend for dinner in Santa Monica, I dropped into one of my favorite stores: Anthropologie. Harmless, right? Wrong. I am hopelessly incapable of leaving that store empty-handed. It doesn’t hurt that the store at 3rd Street Promenade has a phenomenal sale section either. So, while scouring the sale racks, I came across this gorgeous skirt hidden in the back corner. I love pieces that are unique and this pattern gave it a vintage feel while still being something I could wear to work. Yes, I shop sales and always try to look for versatile pieces yet it seems there is a stigma against this in the fashion world. I spend all day analyzing finances so it’s hard to leave that mentality at the office – just imagine the mental conversations between my natural fashionista and my professional, usually more logical self!

I kept everything else here simple since I wanted the skirt to shine. These heels were a steal from ASOS and offered just the right amount of glam while still being simple. The many bands of material say “I’m in control but I’m fun too!” which is exactly what a girl wants. Topped it off with this hat to stay true to my inner bohemian (despite my boyfriend’s not so subtle suggestion to remove it). He’ll never understand fashion but then again, I’ll never understand watching baseball on television.
