We spent the holidays in California this year (we alternate years) but we did something different! We actually stayed there for a week after! It was a much welcomed break from the Chicago cold. One of the highlights was staying at Paséa Hotel & Spa!
Location.
We spent 2 nights at Paséa Hotel and it couldn’t have been more perfect. First, the location was amazing. It was 15 minutes from Newport Beach and maybe 10 minutes max off the 55 freeway. It was also a 5 minute walk from the Huntington Beach pier! It was perfect weather for December so you could! As with most of Southern California, you do need a car to get around so plan to rent one when you’re visiting! I love Orange County because there’s less traffic than LA and Paséa Hotel is the perfect escape.
The hotel is located right across the street from the beach with amazing beach views from the pool, the treehouse bar, and almost anywhere on the property! The sunsets would light up the entire lobby! Absolutely beautiful!
Food.
We had at least one of every meal at Paséa Hotel! We ate at Tanner’s Restaurant for breakfast looking out at the water. We both had an açaí bowl and Matt got a cinnamon roll (I had a bite, it was delicious)! We also grabbed drinks at Tanner’s Treehouse (part of the restaurant but upstairs on the rooftop) while watching the sunset. There was live music and the environment was so California!
On the last day, Matt ordered room service breakfast while I went to the spa. I came back and he told me the French toast hit the spot. He must have really liked it because he even posted it on Instagram Stories.
If you’re a coffee drinker, there is a coffee shop in the lobby too! It’s very convenient to grab and go – or if you need a little snack!
Spa.
I got a massage at the Balinese inspired spa inside of the Paséa Hotel. Truthfully, it was one of the best massages I’ve had. I don’t get massages regularly but try to when we travel because… vacation. My upper back is my tense area and this was the first masseuse to really relax that area! I wish I remembered her name so I could tell you guys! Anyway, the massage was phenomenal. I got a CBD massage so it was focused on relaxation.
The spa facilities are beautiful and relaxing. The entryway had these enormous wooden Balinese doors imported from Bali. They have a relaxation lounge, eucalyptus steam room, and a salt water whirlpool. They also have showers and every amenity you would need (and then some) to get ready afterward. You could easily spend a day or at least half a day there. I made the mistake of scheduling a brunch that morning so we had to leave right after my massage but I wish I would have stayed longer!
The hotel also hosts Wellness Weekends if you’re a wellness focused individual. I wish I lived closer so I could go. They host fitness classes, meditation, and even a clean beauty skincare session (you know that gets me excited)!
Nearby.
The Paséa Hotel is right next door to a food court but it’s a really cute, high end food court. I promise. There is even a brewery AND a bar inside! There’s a popsicle bar too (I think I shared that on Instagram Stories)! The cuisine is a little more elevated than a mall food court which makes the hotel an ideal location to stay especially if you have a large group or family with different eating interests!
As I mentioned, the hotel looks right out at the beach. If it had been warmer, we would have spent a day at the beach! We did walk to the pier several times and even ate lunch there one day. There are also a bunch of shops on Main Street (the same street as the pier). I’ll round up more spots in my Orange County travel guide so stay tuned!
All in all, Paséa Hotel was a great experience. It was central to the places we wanted to go and it was so close to the beach it made me feel right at home! But still on vacation!
Have you visited Huntington Beach before?

Hi Jenna!
You mentioned needing a rental car for the area. Are Uber’s/Lyfts not prevalent? Would you need one if you stayed mostly in Newport/Laguna and didn’t travel up to LA?
Jenna says
No you could Uber/Lyft! We just were there for a week at different locations and in different counties!!
