Pink Heathered Cardigan (3 colors) | $28 Dusty Rose Tunic | Spanx Faux Leather Moto Leggings (the best!) | Beige Pumps | Marble iPhone Case | Beige Bag
I’ve styled a similar look before here but swapped out my white tunic for a dusty rose one. I’m mixing up the color combinations by bringing in beige pumps and it works really well with this beige work bag I always carry. Other than that I wanted to talk about these moto leggings again (both the moto ones and the plain ones)! I’m getting so many questions about them and I love it! Yes, these moto leggins are legitimately the best leggings I’ve ever owned. And they are 100% worth it in my opinion. Here is why they work FOR ME. I carry all my weight in my hips and thighs so I love that they suck me in those areas. I personally, need that in order to feel comfortable wearing leggings out in public. It’s the same reason I swear by the Lululemon All the Right Places tights and those new Athleta leggings I got last week. I like that “hugged” feeling and love that it makes my inner thighs smaller (I will always have inner thighs that touch in a bathing suit, I’ve just accepted that).
On the moto leggings texture, it’s definitely not slick faux leather. I personally don’t like that look as I think it can look a little cheap if you aren’t careful with how you style it. Don’t get me wrong, it can be done right but I need pieces that are versatile and easy to style! It’s slightly crackled leather which is also why I feel like these moto leggings are more versatile (and you can get away with wearing them to the office without everyone thinking you’re going on a date after work).
On other and cheaper leggings, they just don’t hold me in or flatter my very athletic, curvy legs. They also tend to bunch up a ton in awkward places like at the knee. Like these $19 leggings from Nordstrom – I put them on and immediately was like nope, these are doing me zero favors. If you need them for one or two events, they are an option but if you plan to wear them for a long time, invest in the Spanx ones (yes I know it’s weird to order moto leggings from Spanx).
If you’re looking for slick leather, these Commando leggings are another option however they definitely wrinkle up at the knee and aren’t tight at the ankle. I love that the Spanx ones are tight at the ankle because it looks classier for work. The seams on the Commando leggings are sewn in a way that typically aren’t made to hold you in and there’s no wide waistband at the top (which I need) so just know that going in. You can also see the seam at the waistline which is a pet peeve of mine!
On sizing, I’m usually a 4-6 in Lululemon and ordered a Small in the Spanx regular leggings and a Medium in the moto leggings. Even though they have the same fit, I’d wanted to see if I noticed a huge difference in the way the fabric fits. There wasn’t a ton but the medium had a little more room. Both of them work really well for me but I do love that the Small REALLY holds me in. If I wasn’t so self conscious about my hips and thighs, I would be fine with a Medium. The waist is really high on these so since my smallest part is my waist (almost disproportionately so), I didn’t run into issues with the small. That being said, both sizes worked so if you’re in doubt and want it to be a little easier to put them on, you can order a size up.
I hope that was helpful!! I know these leggings are more of an investment so I wanted to be detailed to help you make your decision. In terms of care, make sure to wash them inside out to keep the texture preserved! Even after the faux leather wears off, they still are great leggings (I still wear my pair that is 2 years old which I mistakenly washed right side out for a year until I realized this)! Here are all the ways I’ve worn leggings here on Visions of Vogue!
Let me know what you think!
