As you might have guessed, I’m an online shopper. Most of the time. If you’ve been following along on Instagram Stories, you might already know that Matt and I found ourselves back at Westfield Old Orchard last weekend though. There is just something so magical about shopping in store around the holidays!
If you haven’t heard me mention Westfield Old Orchard before, it’s one of my favorite shopping centers in Chicago. It’s an outdoor mall which is a little taste of home (California has a lot of outdoor malls). Before I had even moved to Chicago, I had been to this mall which is so crazy to think about now that I’m here! There is such a wide variety of retailers for every budget and across every category – fashion, jewelry, entertainment, etc. Old Orchard is also really well maintained. It’s just a beautiful place! You can just tell that it’s a destination to spend a day at versus somewhere you go to just check an errand off the list.
I needed to pick up a few gifts for people on my list so Matt and I stopped by Old Orchard this past weekend. There is just something about being in store that really helps you visualize the items as well as find gift ideas that you might not have noticed online! We went into Aritzia and they had little signs all over the store with their “gift edits” and stocking stuffers that make great gifts. I thought that was such a great idea. It just makes it so easy to pick things out – you can just follow the signs!
Everything was really affordable too! Can you spot the signs above?
We also stopped by Kendra Scott which is one of my favorite spaces in the mall. Their store is 4 months old so it’s brand new and it’s just stunning. FYI they are doing their 12 days of Christmas now through the 15th so if you’re in the area, stop by! There is a new giveaway or major deals launching every day!
If you’ve been watching my outfits of the day, you probably have noticed that I wear a lot of Kendra Scott. Their statement necklaces are one of my favorite ways to dress up sweaters for cold weather! I went to the color bar where you can design your own jewelry. I picked up one of my favorite necklaces, the Rayne, in ivory pearl! It was such a fun experience! I’ve looked at their pieces online for so long that it was awesome to see the pieces in person. Being in the store also really helped me get new ideas for styling and pairing different pieces together! PS. If Greg is in the store when you go, have him help you!! He was the best!
If you’re looking for gift ideas, Kendra Scott also had a bunch of holiday sets under $100! I also was so surprised by all the non-jewelry items in store like candles, jewelry boxes, and the geodes. I loved the geodes and added them to my wish list for this year! Such a cute way to style jewelry – functional yet fashionable. Matt also took home a candle (he really loved their signature scent). I just got so much inspiration from going into the store at Old Orchard! I can’t believe how many things I’ve missed shopping online!
After we finished shopping, we had lunch and walked around to see the decorations. I loved seeing how festive everything looked! They even have a skating rink!! It really makes the magic of Christmas come alive. Matt and I both said to each other at different points during the day how nice it was! A few months ago, we went to the dine-in movie theater at Old Orchard called CMX Cinemas Cine’Bistro for a date night if you guys remember that from Instagram! It was such a gorgeous movie theater – is it describe a movie theater as gorgeous? I has a full restaurant and bar inside. It’s quite swanky! They actually have 2 movie theaters on location – one geared more toward adults and one more toward families!
In case you’re looking for something to do with your significant other or family, Old Orchard also has events throughout the year! Over the summer, we went to one of the cutest events called Bottles and Bubbly. Fabio Viviani (celebrity chef) gave a cooking demo, we got to make flower crowns, and taste so many delicious plates. I always love events like that where you get to sample. Why is sampling food so appealing? For the holidays, they have a Skate with Santa, Cookie and PJ Party, and Holiday Ice Skate coming up. You can check out all their events here!
Have you been to Westfield Old Orchard? Where is your favorite place to shop for the holidays?
Let me know what you think!
