Friday Five: 5 Items You Need For Fall

Today, I’m so excited to kick off a weekly series called the Friday Five! There is a TON of stuff out there on the internet. Just count your Google search results. Whether it’s a plaid scarf, paper towels, or dog food, it can be tough to navigate. There are just so many options! Dare I say too many options? That is the inspiration for this series. Each week, I’ll pick the best items from a trending category. I’m making your life easier and putting my love of online shopping to use. This is what they call a win-win.

For the first post, I wanted to cover fall must haves. These essentials are ones I find myself wearing on repeat. The first item is a suede jacket. I’ve only lived in Chicago for a month, but I’m realizing that suede is incredibly warm. Not only that, but the cut is a total dream. If you’ve scrolled through Instagram in the past month, you’ve seen this suede jacket. It is the ‘it’ jacket for Fall 2016. It comes in 7 colors – coffee bean and burgundy are my favorites! While it’s a little bit of an investment, it’s one of those pieces that you’ll wear for multiple seasons. Layer in winter, throw it over a little floral dress come spring, and break it out again in fall 2017. It’s timeless and I 100% approve!

The second item I love is over the knee boots. While every girl covets a pair of Stuart Weitzmans, I always have an eye out for good dupes. These Steve Madden black OTK boots are amazing. Mine have lasted 2 seasons and can easily make it to a third. They are incredibly slimming for girls of all heights – I’m 5’8″ but all my shorter girlfriends swear by them for that reason. I pair mine with swing dresses or these faux leather leggings at least once a week.

Next up is this gold tassel necklace. If you’re from the south, you’ve probably heard of Kendra Scott. If not, then allow me to introduce you! While slightly more expensive than Baublebar, you get what you pay for. Not a single piece of my Kendra Scott Jewelry has had to be retired from too much wear. This tassel necklace can be untied and styled multiple ways. I love to layer it with any of my gold bar necklaces! Also, if you’re looking for the one piece that will make you look slimmer in a chunky knit, this piece is it!

When fall rolls around, I find myself carrying more stuff with me on a daily basis. Whether it’s warm weather accessories or a travel sized body lotion, I need a good bag to hold it all. This black tote is one of my absolute favorites (also comes in navy). I snagged the brown one in the Nordstrom Sale and wear it all the time. I’ve gotten so many compliments on it because it looks designer but at $60, it’s far from it in price!

Lastly, every girl needs a collection of plaid scarves to get her through fall (and then winter). This navy and red plaid scarf caught my eye this year. At $40 (currently 33% off), it’s really affordable and high quality (I own one). My scarf collection has double since I moved to Chicago and I totally get it. They’re a fun accessory that can be added to almost every outfit (and used as a pillow when you’re traveling on planes). This is fashion and function, ladies!
