A Dress A Day: Memorial Day Dress (Day 14)

I’m not the “cute” girl. For so many reasons, I will never be the person that people refer to as cute. When it comes to physical size, I tower above all those girls and my bone structure makes me a top candidate for any football league (never had a broken bone). It also means that come patriotic holidays, a part of me cringes when I consider dressing up in red, white, and blue. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t done it. Trust me, I was all about the themed party particularly during my college years. But now, I settle for mixing 2 of the 3 colors. Call it me not wanting to look like I tried too hard. Or just keeping it chic without being kitschy.

Y’all know already that Matt and I skipped town to head down to Mexico for our fifth anniversary. But if I was in the US, this is the kind of outfit I would wear! I might also wear a red and white combo. But all 3 colors? Like I said, I’m not “cute”. This cotton dress is only $39 so if you spill BBQ sauce on it at the family picnic, no sweat. It’s a really soft material which makes it great for the warmer temperatures and it comes in 2 other (bright) colors.

If you get chilly at anything below 70 degrees, then you know better than to travel without a light jacket during the summer. I wore a regular denim jacket in Saturday’s post about what to wear to a baseball game but today’s white denim is just as adorable! The white keeps things feeling really crisp and clean and I love the cut of this one. It’s not overly boxy so you can pair it with feminine pieces like this mini dress. I never would have thought I would wear white denim. Who knew it would become a new favorite?
