A Dress A Day: Happy Hour Dress (Day 20)

Of all the hours in the day, happy hour is definitely the happiest. I’m not sure if I get more excited about the end of a work day or if labeling it “happy” incites more joy. Either way, it’s an event to look forward to. Drink rosé, nosh on some apps, and chat with friends. That might just be heaven on earth when you put it that way. As with every event in this A Dress A Day series, you might just need the perfect outfit.

You know what makes me happy? Flattering dresses. I feel like I say this about every single dress I wear. And maybe I do. But after decades of trying to figure out how to flatter my big bone structure and wide hips, I know what works. You see, I’m not your average blogger. Not in size, not in height, not in much else other than I like styling things. That means, that I have to try a little harder to find things that work for my body type. In the case of rompers, a LOT harder. In the case of bodysuits, well, I just give up. As much as I wish I had the perfect “model” body, I’ll settle for just making it look like I do by choosing wisely.

This dress is the perfect example! If your waist is the narrowest part of your body, this tie at the waist accentuates it. Even if you have a more “athletic” build (never understood that term because athletes are all shapes and sizes), the tie gives you the illusion of having a smaller waist. If your hips are narrower than your waist, I’d recommend a flowy shift dress for you!

And why is this dress perfect for happy hour? It says “I’m ready to have fun”. It’s the opposite of what I wear when I go to work and that’s how I want it. The office is the last thing on my mind! There is nothing like a ruffle to say it better. With the weather getting nicer, why not bare those shoulders too? Get your tan on (just forget about the tan lines).
