Now that we don’t have a car (we sold both of ours once we moved to Chicago last fall), I find myself having to carry a lot more with me. While my shoulders are getting stronger from toting around all my stuff, I’m all about packing as light as I can. I don’t need to look like The Hulk. So many of the dresses in this A Dress A Day series have been about versatility. Today, I’m making it obvious as I take a dress from day to night! I even challenged Leah from Eat Pray Wear Love to do the same!

When you’re wearing a dress during the day AND at night, the outfits are going to look similar. Since the majority and key focus of your look is identical, it doesn’t do the transformation justice in a blog post. However, if you imagine each outfit individually in the right setting, you can start to see it.

Let’s start with the day look. Jean jackets are a staple for spring and summer. They have the ability to add a little something to every outfit. Whether that’s dressing down your favorite floral dress or even keeping that evening breeze from chilling you, I love them. I actually just bought this one in a bigger size because I needed to have multiple. I feel like the smaller, tighter one I’m wearing really worked with the cut of this dress. However, I also wanted a more slouchy one to pair with button downs and pants.

This straw tote was one of my favorite pieces from our trip to Tulum and I wanted to challenge myself to restyle it in real life (not just vacation). It can hold a lot. It actually held my night outfit while we were out shooting this set! The version with the tassels is sold out so I found one all in beige – it actually goes with way more things that way!! If you’re sold on the orange and pink combo, this one is also one of my favorites. I cannot get over the shape.

When it comes to dressing this look up for night, add heels and ditch the jacket. Put on some fancy earrings and swap out your bag for a cute little clutch. I finally got the Cult Gaia bag after seeing it on so many bloggers this year. I’m basic, I know. I’m my defense I actually ordered one last year but it was on back order for so long that they cancelled my order. So, if you see it in stock, buy it immediately. Here are a few colors and places to snag it!

This dress could also be worn to a wedding easily. I’d up the fancy factor even more with my favorite rockstuds (and under $100 dupes) and a white crossbody. Those 2 accessories are my go to for summer outfits and I wear them on stop through October. You will get longevity out of them, I promise!
