When I first moved to Chicago, one of the first things people told me was that I needed SOREL boots. Everyone I talked to who lived in a colder climate swore by them. They are the best. Really, they’re the only stylish waterproof boots out there. With fall here and winter soon to follow, it was time for me to refresh my boot closet (my boots get the most wear and tear here) so this year I went with these Danica Booties.
I remember from last year that deciding on my first pair of SOREL boots was incredibly difficult. There were so many cute options on Zappos and I didn’t really have a clue what I would end up using most. So, I ended up settling on these wedges and of course the Joan of Arctic boots when we went to Banff. The boots were perfect for a snowy weekend and they are so warm. Seriously, a must have for anyone who lives in a climate similar to Chicago’s or anyone who goes skiing/snowboarding. The wedges were my stylish solution to needing waterproof footwear for daily activities.
Now that I have one winter under my belt, I think I have a better idea of what I need. This year I really wanted something that wasn’t obviously a snow boot. Something I would wear to work, wear on the weekend, and wear for a night out. I wanted them to be relatively lightweight (waterproof boots are generally heavier) and narrow so they were easy to walk around in. These Danica Booties were perfect for that. They also come in black and grey – it was really hard to decide on one color because they all were so versatile!
For the day time, I wore these booties with this ruffle sweater and thermal to walk around the city of Chicago. The boots were incredible comfortable and I think I told Matt that about 5 times during our walk. I always like to call it out! For night, I switched it up with a moto jacket and $28 white blouse! Both were really easy ways to dress up or dress down these boots. And I was comfortable the whole time!!
