It’s about that time of year where the only thing people want to do is snuggle up on the couch (at least here in Chicago)! One of the most interesting things to me when I first moved to Chicago was how little people like to go outside during winter. After 2 years in the city, I get it. So what do people do?
To be honest, Chicago is a heavy eating and drinking city. When it’s freezing (not an exaggeration), it can be hard to find the motivation to put on your layers and venture out into the city. Most people will go out during December because the holiday decorations are pretty magical – especially if you’re on Michigan Avenue. If you’re heading to Chicago, make sure to read my Chicago travel guide for ideas on what to do!
While December has all the action, January through March are the exact opposite. Last year, we struggled to convince our friends to go out for NYE because there was a huge blizzard! We ended up opening a bottle of wine at our apartment and then walking around the corner for dinner. We did this again this past weekend and it was amazing. We opened a bottle of Cavit Wine – a brand new to both of us. We’re usually white wine people but are consciously trying to become more red wine drinkers. I love the idea of the health benefits!
Even before taking a sip, the Cavit Wine Pinot Noir smelled delicious. While I’m not a connoisseur, I am picky with my wines! I’m not a fan of tannins or oaky flavors so this Pinot Noir was perfect for me. I really enjoyed the berry flavors. I decided to research Cavit Wine and read that they are an eco friendly vineyard located in Italy. Admittedly, that made me like it even more and also made me want to plan a trip back to Italy!
Have you tried Cavit Wine? Have you been to Italy?
Let me know what you think!
